Case Study: Digital Sign Control

A maker of commercial electronic signs often found it necessary to run data cabling, which links signs and their controlling computers, in separate conduit from power cabling, due to 60 Hz interference from power lines. This meant double the cabling costs, at distances that often exceeded several hundred yards. This manufacturer chose RFM’s HopNet wireless serial modems, favored for their outdoor enclosures and low cost, to create the point-to-point sign control link. The result was so successful that the manufacturer has fully integrated part of the HopNet radio into its core technology.
